Genealogical research is reportedly the second most popular hobby in the United States (Google it).
The availability of online resources is amazing. Even so, only an estimated 10% of genealogical records are available online. That means that we have records and data at our fingertips that may have never been accessible to earlier genealogists.
The other 90% of the records are still found in county courthouses, state archives, various local repositories, and random personal collections of people like me.
Genealogy is more than adding names and dates to a family tree. It is learning about the people whose ideas and actions shaped the course of your life. It is about understanding the triumphs and the trials they endured. These ancestors are a tangible part of you, even when the DNA is too minuscule to detect.
You may be just beginning your family research or are in need of assistance to break down your “brick wall.” Are you dealing with the frustration of generations of same-named men, the lack of women’s names, and the decades worth of published mistakes? You may have taken a DNA test, and are not sure what to do next. Maybe you are actively researching our mutual ancestors. No matter what reason brought you, I’m glad you’re here.
How I Can Help
I understand that genealogical research is not a one-size-fits-all service. Each project begins with a clear objective while allowing flexibility as the project progresses.
I can do the work for you. I also offer genealogy coaching services. During coaching, we will work together to clearly define your research objective; determine what records should be available in a given time and place; determine what records must be retrieved in person; and most importantly, how to attribute a record to the correct person.
It will be fun…I promise! Read more about me.
